Redevelopment Strategies

West Temple Gateway & Granary District Redevelopment Strategy

In 2010, the RDA hired the National Development Council (NDC) to create a Redevelopment Strategy for the West Temple Gateway (WTG) and Granary District (GD) RDA Project Areas. A video presentation of the draft WTG/GD Redevelopment Strategy (Strategy)  is available to the public. The RDA Board of Directors is now reviewing the Strategy. The RDA wants to thank you the community for all of the comments and input we received. The Strategy will be presented to the Board for approval in their May Board meeting.

The Strategy consists of three documents:

  Redevelopment Guide (PDF) - Market analysis, sample cities, & key Strategy Recommendations (p.64).
  Design Guidelines (PDF) - Street/building design elements to improve quality, walkability, and safety.
  Property Approach (PDF- 23 MB Large File) - Impact of constraints (p.5), zoning analysis and recommendations (p.6-7), and Opportunity Site recommendations that include proposed density, use, and timeline, sample Proformas, sample site plan and design.

 

Intermodal Hub Redevelopment Strategy

In late 2009, the RDA hired Citiventure Associates, LLC (“Citiventure”) to develop a land use strategy and marketing plan for the RDA’s properties along 300 South in the Depot District Project Area surrounding the Intermodal Hub. In May 2010, Citiventure presented interim findings to the RDA Board of Directors (the "Board"), which included recommendations for the future redevelopment of the area. Below, please find a video recording of Citiventure's presentation as well as the powerpoint presentation given to the Board.

Grand Opening of Rio Grand Single Room Occupancy Hotel

On Monday, March 8, 2010 the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City, announced the grand opening of the recently refurbished Rio Grande Hotel, located at 428 West 300 South. The Rio Grande Hotel is a 49 unit, Single Room Occupancy Hotel that offers weekly and monthly rates of $80 week or $300 month.

The Hotel will be privately operated by HomeInn Rio Grande Management. The hotel’s amenities include free laundry, a common kitchen, common computers and a library. For information on room availability, please contact the management office at 801-355-1432.
